Alpha Chrome Yayo is a genre-mutating composer from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and he’s out there creating red hot music for every mood.

Real name Peter McCaughan, ACY has been self-releasing a vast catalogue of musically diverse albums since 2018, building up a sizeable and wildly passionate fanbase.

And as of 2025, ACY is making music full time, working freelance as a composer for critically acclaimed video games, multi-million subscriber YouTube channels and anybody else looking to inject their project with a dose of immaculate vibes.

One such game is “Promise Mascot Agency”, the latest masterpiece from Kaizen Game Works (Paradise Killer), on which Alpha Chrome Yayo was lead composer.

It has been met with rave reviews and particular attention has been placed on the impeccable score. VICE magazine called it “one of the best soundtracks in a video game, period”.

Fusing a love of ‘90s ephemera and pop culture surrealism with twisted old synthesizers and ancient instruments, ACY’s music seeks to look forward as much as it delves into the past, celebrating musical and cultural diversity with boundless joy and passion.

He is also renowned for his DIY, community driven approach to making and enjoying music, whether it’s with traditional Japanese instruments, horny railway robots or anything in between.

With keen support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and RTE, ACY has also been lauded by Hot Press as being ‘one of the most interesting and inventive new voices in Northern Ireland’, alongside countless glowing reviews in publications worldwide.

All of Alpha Chrome Yayo’s music is borne out of his lovingly built home studio; a mad scientist’s lab of vintage synthesizers and highly unique instruments, where ancient tech sits alongside modern production tools.

As The Belfast Telegraph reported, “the future is playing out in the back room of a house in East Belfast”.
