Videogames: Design/ Play/ Disrupt
8 September 2018 – 24 February 2019
Videogame design is one of the most important disciplines of our time but what does it take to design a videogame in the 21st century? This autumn the V&A explores the design and culture of contemporary videogames in the first exhibition of its kind. From The Last of Us and Splatoon to Journey and Kentucky Route Zero, follow the creation of ground-breaking works from the last decade to see how a new generation of designers and players are pushing boundaries.
With concept artwork, character designs and prototypes displayed alongside spectacular installations, game footage and playable interactives, you’ll be drawn into this complex world and invited to reconsider what a videogame really is today.

There really is a huge mix of people at Develop - loads of peers that you can learn from and the perfect blend of every element of game development as well.
There’s something creative about Brighton, so it’s the perfect place to have the conference.
Develop always gets put in the diary. There are many reasons to be here, not just the talks, but the networking, people exchanging ideas about where the industry is right now and where it’s going to. It’s pretty essential to be here I think.
Ian Livingstone, CBE
There’s really something for everyone at Develop and the experience of being around like-minded people is really useful.
If you really want to have a good interface with the British game developer community then this is the place to come.
I absolutely love coming to Develop, it’s a brilliant, brilliant conference – you just know you’re guaranteed to meet everyone.
