The Develop:Brighton Indie Showcase competition returns in 2022 to find the industry’s hottest unsigned indie games, with submissions now open. Developers can submit their games until 13 May 2022 at developconference.com.
Free to all game makers to enter, the Indie Showcase is a great opportunity for rising indie developers to showcase their latest games at Develop:Brighton 2022, taking place this summer at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 July.
Submissions will be whittled down by a panel of industry experts, chaired by Alistair Aitcheson. The ten finalists will then bring their games to Develop:Brighton’s Expo on Wednesday 13 July and Thursday 14 July for media, developers, publishers and all other delegates to play.
Two winners will be announced in the final session of the final day of the conference. The People’s Choice award will be decided by attendees voting on the show floor, while the Overall Winner by a panel of judges.
“I'm really excited to play this year's submissions to the Indie Showcase! Every year I'm blown away by the creativity and ambition in the submissions, and I think the showcase is a fantastic opportunity to get these games in front of press, publishers and dev partners,” commented Alistair Aitcheson.
“Having a platform on the expo floor and the prestige that comes with being a nominee is so beneficial, so it's a great chance for studios to build their networks and show off their creations.”
Finalists will also receive a complimentary three-day pass to Develop:Brighton 2022, pre-event publicity and a profile on the Develop:Brighton website.
Last year the Overall Winner was You Suck at Parking from Happy Volcano, and the People’s Choice was given to No Plan B by GFX47. GFX47 was also presented the People’s Choice award back in 2019 for Gladiabots, with the Overall Winner that year being Touch Type Tale by Strategic Typing.

The deadline for entries is 13 May 2022 and full entry details can be found here: https://www.developconference.com/whats-on/indie-showcase-competition

Building games is hard and it’s taxing physically, mentally and emotionally. So being around a community that understands that is great – there’s a comraderie here.

One of the things I like about Develop is it brings people together from across Europe and the whole world. There is a very high level of professionals here, so you have company leaders having drinks with juniors from their community.
